10/5/08……..COMMITMENT YIELDS CONTENTMENT

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust, lean on, rely on and be confident in Him and He will bring it to pass”.  When we totally commit to the Lord, we will no longer feel restless in our spirit but we will relax in the Lord and that will yield contentment. Half-hearted commitment will not result in contentment. When we sense uneasiness in our inner being, it usually means, we’ve made decisions on our own instead of going before the Lord and seeking His will in a matter and then waiting on Him to move through us.

Philippians 4:11 “Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point I am not disturbed) in whatever state I am”. This will be accomplished in our life only after we have spent much time studying God’s Word, consistent time in prayer and trusting Him with each decision we make daily. Isaiah 26:3 “God will keep in perfect peace the one who trusts Him”. The enemy will attempt to get you to doubt in all decisions you make and God does not violate our own will.

In order to move from commitment to contentment, we must follow Jesus’ example found in Luke 18:1 “always pray and do not lose heart and give up”. The kingdom rule in our heart will bring us to the reality that life is all about HIM and not about ourselves.  The world puts emphasis on self but following Jesus must be our example in our daily walk. 2 Corinthians 5:7 “we walk by faith not sight”.

Psalm 37:7a “Be still and rest in the Lord; WAIT for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him. V.18b “The Lord upholds the consistently righteous”. Cast aside anything that would hinder your walk with God, commit all to Him.
